Ever wanted to have a trip where you spent every hour of every day in the mountains?
Spending your time learning, progressing your skills, and understanding the day to day changes that occur in a wild environment?
Alpine Islands began with a simple dream to help others tune their awareness to mountain conditions. The best way to do that (and the case with learning any new language) is to be fully immersed in it. It’s really hard to make any significant progress if you only learn something once and don’t practice it, especially if you go home or to a hotel after a session and remove yourself from the environment.
Our goal is to help you dial those skills in faster by spending almost a week in the environment we all hope to gain better skills amidst. For that reason, the Backcountry Base Camp was born.
The Backcountry Base Camp
For six days and five nights we will focus on developing skills crucial to success in the mountains. There will be the obvious lessons in avalanche safety, ropes, and reading the weather. But we will also focus on mindfulness and proper awareness to help you make quick decisions on the go. The undefinable aspects of intuition, resilience, and quick-witted awareness. These skills are essential to a long and illustrious life exploring and riding the mountains.
Set in British Columbia, just outside Whistler, we will set up our base camp at a remote spot with large tents, a kitchen, and outhouses to ensure we have our basic survival needs met. From there we will have a list of accomplishments we wish to achieve, but also will adapt to the conditions around us at any given moment. The best part of the curriculum is that there is nothing set in stone, rather that we will use whatever Mother Nature has in store to help us achieve the best possible outcome.
